Most men have a preference for boxers or briefs, but which are better when it comes to fertility ?
Many things can affect a man’s ability to make or transport sperm, including sexually transmitted infections , prostate and testicle infections , drug use, smoking, obesity and, perhaps surprisingly, heat.
Sperm are made in the testes (or testicles), a pair of egg-shaped glands that sit in the scrotum, in a lengthy and continuous process. It takes about 70 days for germ cells to develop into the mature sperm , found in semen, that can fertilise an egg.
Around one in 20 men have some kind of fertility problem, with low numbers of sperm in their ejaculate. But one in every 100 men produces no sperm at all.
Of the couples who present with fertility problems, almost half are due to fertility issues in the male partner only, or in both partners. It’s important to note, though, many men will still be able to father children naturally, even with have a lowered sperm count.
Couples who are trying to conceive can better their odds of conception by increasing the male partner’s sperm count and volume. You would not need any special drugs or exercises to maximize sperm load. Simply keep or maintain a healthy diet, exercise on a regular basis and avoid factors that can damage sperm. This article provides some ways to maximize sperm count.
Sperm production directly correlates with general physical health, so keep a healthy diet low in fat and high in protein. Avoid inebriant or alcohol (which upsets the production of testosterone), smoking and caffeine (both minimize sperm volume and sperm movement). Complement your diet with foods that can increase sperm count. A Netherlands study showed a daily supplement of sixty-six milligram of Zinc and five milligram of amino acid L-lysine to enhance sperm count by seventy-four percent. Minoalkanoic acid L-arginine enhances blood flow to the private parts and is a component of seminal fluid. Take five hundred milligram of L-arginine daily for greatest benefit. Other vitamins and minerals also enhance sperm production: axerophthol, vitamin B-6 and B-12, manganese and ascorbic acid. Take a daily multivitamin pill that contains these nutrients: You will only need the recommended everyday allowance....
First and foremost, go to your doctor for a preconception check-up. Those, which contain folic acid, are especially important, in that they can prevent your future baby from having certain defects.Nothing beats advice from a professional. Your doctor can also give you prenatal vitamins.
Second, stop consuming all forms of contraception. Especially if you have been in the pill for a while, you may find that you are not going to be truly fertile until after a month or so.
Third, recent studies show that women who are of normal weight tend to conceive earlier. Hence, keep yourself healthy by eating a balanced diet and getting physically active. This may be one of the more often-ignored tips on getting pregnant, but getting your weight in check is actually very important.
Fourth, quit smoking and drinking. Additionally, even if you still end up conceiving, smoking can cause you to have a miscarriage, a premature birth or other birth defects. Both first and secondhand smoke affect you and your partner’s fertility. On the other hand, alcohol, however little, should always be treated as poison to the body. Needless to say, you should also quit doing drugs.
