At the Oscar’s it is as much about the dresses as it is about the films and the stars were out in all their glory at the 83rd Academy Awards last night. In terms of style there were two distinct camps – vivacious reds from Versace and Valentino and enchantingly elegant, ethereal nudes by Marchesa and Monique L’Hullier.
The ye olde faithful black dress made its usual appearance, with celebrities including Sharon Stone, Helena Bonham-Carter and Reece Witherspoon sticking to the classic.
Although there were a number of beautiful gowns on the red carpet, Halle Berry was definitely the best dressed in my opinion. She opted for an exquisite nude Marchesa gown which featured intricate beading and light ruffles.
This year a number of celebrities collaborated with designers to put their own unique twist on the creations; Helena Bonham-Carter teamed up with costume designer Colleen Atwood to create an 1880′s inspired opulent black velvet number which complimented Bonham-Carter’s signature style with a waist-nipping corset and a large bustle at the back. Bonham Carter also teamed the dress with a Lulu Guinness fan-shaped clutch.
