My daughter made me buy new jeans because the 550s I have been wearing for years, according to her, "hang off my butt". OK, she's right. I am 6-2, 170 pounds, and y'know, a white guy with no butt. These jeans fit me very well, not too tight, and age appropriate (I am in my 50s). I bought five different styles of the 514s. And each one is quite different in fabric weight and finish - so it does not look like you are wearing the same jeans every day. Know what I mean? The material is quite a bit lighter than the 550s so I suspect they will not stand up to as many washings. Hers's the best part - I have gotten a lot of compliments (most of them good) on how they look. These jeans make you look slimmer than the 550s. As one of the other reviewers said, round your size up if you're in bewtween sizes. All in all, I am very well pleased with the five pairs I bought - they are a younger style than my trusty old 550s, ride a little lower on the waist and are a great fit for a slim body style. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Great jeans, but VERY stylized By Chris One key feature not mentioned is that the inseam is twisted. So when you're wearing the pants, the outseam hits the outside of your foot, but the inseam hits just inside the center of your heal. Here's another BIG one about the "weird pockets" review. They APPEAR to be butt-flap pockets but they're just decorative. You actually reach behind the flaps and straight down into them like regular pockets. The pain is; I DO have some pants with flap pockets, so every time I wear them I find myself reaching back, feeling the flap, unbuttoning it, then remembering that doesn't do anything. Annoying. Finally, the jeans have a high sheen, almost like a shark-skin suit style, for denim. And the leg seams are sewn with 3 different colors of thread (mustard/white/brown) which creates a subtle, cool, high-end look. ALL the 514s are great if you're like me and have a smaller build (5'7"/145)and want trendy, good-looking pants that just plain fit without being too skinny or too loose. If you can't seem to find jeans that sit low enough without giving you that saggy "skater-butt" where your back pockets are BELOW your cheeks.... By Chad Wellbrock Someone made the comment, "you sure are working those jeans today" so I guess they fit great as well as being really comfortable. The slight shine gives them a bit of an edge.
