EAST SPENCER — The Greater Mt. Olive Full Gospel Baptist Church will donate clothing and shoes to men, women, boys and girls today, Saturday, Nov. 12 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., in the fellowship hall at 307 N. Long St., pastor Frank Smith Sr.

Praise at The Rock

CONCORD — Rock Hill AME Zion Church, 3620 Rock Hill Church Road, will hold a Gospel celebration today, Saturday, Nov. 12 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

There will be worship through song, dance, spoken word and praise.

Woodleaf fundraiser

WOODLEAF — Woodleaf United Methodist Church is having a fish fry today starting at 11 a.m. The meal includes fish with french fries, slaw, bread, drink and homemade dessert. Donations will be accepted for the meals with all proceeds going towards the Woodleaf UMC Building Fund.

Eat in the fellowship hall or take a meal to go (no drink with carry-out). Meals will be served until the fish is gone.

The church is located at 9000 Church St. From Salisbury take Woodleaf Road to Cool Springs Road (cross over Hwy 801). Turn right on Church Street.

Ed Vaizey, the UK’s minister for culture, communications and creative industries, arrived in Los Angeles on Monday for two days of powwows with studio and indie execs. Joining Vaizey is British Film Commission CEO Adrian Wootton as the duo aim to further develop relationships in town and boost the number of U.S. productions shooting in Britain now that the UK’s tax rebate system has been extended to at least 2015. The sojourn will also give Vaizey a chance to peruse the U.S. biz ahead of the publication of a comprehensive film policy review. Meanwhile, the British Film Institute today announced it would devote an additional £1 million to its P&A Fund in order to help get films like Lynne Ramsay’s We Need To Talk About Kevin , Neil Jordan’s mother/daughter vampire project starring Saoirse Ronan, Gemma Arterton, Caleb Landry Jones, Sam Riley and Daniel Mays, will receive support from the Irish Film Board as it gears up to shoot in the UK and Ireland. Alan Moloney and Stephen Woolley are producing the pic scripted by Moira Buffini and based on her play. The announcement comes as the Irish film body has also approved funding for several new animated projects and the first ever Ireland-Singapore co-production in what will amount to 38 million euros of inward investment for the local industry....
