MOORHEAD, Minn. - Locked-out workers conducting informational pickets at American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead are finding it tough to stay warm, especially since someone has been stealing their portable heaters.

Union head Steward Ross Perrin says three portable heaters and propane tanks were recently stolen directly from the site. Locked-out worker Mitchell Larson says they're trying to cope by putting warmer clothes on and keeping moving. Two of the heaters were stolen on a single night. The third heater was taken the following night. The locked-out workers say they don't know who is responsible.

More than 100 locked out American Crystal Sugar workers and their families gathered in front of company headquarters in Moorhead for a candlelight rally last night. Local clergy led the group in prayer and songs. Union President John Riskey says the workers have been off the job for four months, replaced by non-union employees. Union leaders say they plan to talk with Governor Dayton when he visits on Saturday. American Crystal officials say they've made multiple proposals to the union and they remain committed to reaching a contract agreement.
