Harvard unloaded a season-high 44 shots in the tie.

“I think our guys battled and I was happy with the effort,” Donato said. “To be down four different times and come back shows a lot of character. We had some guys make some big plays and I thought we actually took over the game at the end. So I thought there were some positive signs.”

The Minutemen skated hard, responded to each Harvard comeback and peppered Crimson goalie Steve Michalek with 35 shots. But the Minutemen were overly charged by the home atmosphere and committed a string of senseless penalties against the wrong opponent.

Harvard entered the game with the nation’s most effective power play (28.6 percent) and added two more goals at the expense of Minutemen goalie Kevin Boyle (40 saves). UMass committed eight penalties overall and put Harvard on the power play six times.

“The piece of the game that got away from us (was) the discipline piece,” UMass coach Don Cahoon said. “We ended up with (eight) penalties and they have the best power play in the country.

Egyptian and South African Previous Performances

While the match between Ivory Coast and South Africa ended in a 1 – 1 tie, Gabon was defeated by Egypt 1 – 0 at the African U23 Championship, Group B, which was held on Morocco on Sunday.

Although SA played most of its match with a team of 10 players, Brilliant Khuzwayo, the keeper, had a penalty. Player Mohammed Ahmed Magdy scored Egypt’s only goal in the Egyptian team’s 1 – 0 victory over Gabon. This put the Egyptian team on the top of the table for a tournament that serves as Africa’s qualifying campaign for the 2012 London Olympic.

Magdy struck during the second half of the match when Gabon’s defenders were clearly unable to manage a cross, enabling Magdy to score. Gabon, however, recovered and continued making a number of significant attacks.

During the last ten minutes of the match, Alexander Nduoumbou almost scored twice, but was unable to because of the Egyptian team, which occupies the fourth position on the table....

Man, 52, Tied to Craigslist Ad Scheme Back in Court

AKRON (AP) -- A man linked to a deadly Ohio Craigslist robbery scheme returned to court Friday, for the second time in as many days. This time 52-year-old Richard Beasley is going before the judge on 16 counts of prostitution.

This charge is not connected to the Craigslist job ad scheme that is suspected of leading three men to their death.

Beasley appeared in court on Thursday, too, on a narcotic charge out of Texas -- also unrelated to the deadly Craigslist job ad scheme. And, he did so in a somewhat surprising manner -- in a wheelchair and with his head rocking rhythmically.

His attorney said Beasley felt weak Thursday and deputies in Akron provided the wheelchair. Lawyer Rhonda Kotnik says Beasley's mother fears he suffered a stroke.
